Sansa E280 v2 install problems...

I am a windows 7 user and I tried to use the Rockbox Utility to install RB on my E280v2 that I bought refurbed a couple of years ago.  I had it in MSC mode and followed the Rockbox Utility instructions (including getting the necessary e200pa.bin file,), chose 'complete installation'.   Everything seemed to go fine (no error messages during install), at the end of which I got to chose a background theme (I chose Mountain Fog).  That installed also, then the Utility said I had successfully completed install (or something like that).

The problem is that, even though the .rockbox folder is now on the E280v2 when I browse through windows explorer, when I then booted up the player, it automatically just boots with the original crappy Sansa firmware like I hadn't done anything at all...

Any ideas?

So, I ran the Rockbox utility and chose 'install the bootloader'.  Same thing happened... I guess I can try to erase everything and start over from scratch?

After the failed attempt go do "Help / Troubleshooting / System Trace". Save the log and post it.

Thanks for your help, everyone.  As suggested, I reinstalled using the Utility again from the beginning to the 'theme' installation (which said it was successful), but still the e280 booted in original Sansa firmware.  Here is the system trace:

Yes, since that will show the USB IDs, and with that it's possible to figure if your player is a v1 or v2. Have you used the autodetection functionality in Rockbox Utility?

The System Trace would show them as well but only if you actually used a function that triggers checking those -- either autodetection (which you didn't, at least not in the run you posted the trace for) or by calling said menu.

This clearly indicates that it's not a v2. Rockbox Utility would have detected this player correctly unless there is a wrong installation on it. Why do people not use this functionality? There has quite a bit of work put into making sure not to produce wrong results (and instead rather not detect in some cases)?
