Restoring an ipod
(1/1)
rw668:
I have a ipod Video 5th Gen installed Rockbox few years back. That ipod was untouched for 9 months and battery flatted. After charging up, I tried to update Rockbox with latest version, so I downloaded Rockbox Utility again.
The installation detected my ipod without problem. I replied "Yes" when Rockbox Utility prompted for backup. After that, the screen of my ipod stayed at Rockbox main menu and no response at all. I tried to run Rockbox Utility again, the Rockbox Utility popped "Configuration error - Your configuration in invalid. This is most likely due to a changed device path. The configuration dialog will not open to allow you to correct the problem."
When using Windows Explorer to view the contains of my ipod, Windows prompted to the device is not formatted.
Please advice how to reboot my ipod and how to perform factory reset.
Thanks.

I think Apple has instructions on their support site for restoring an ipod, but basically you put it into disk mode and then use the restore option in iTunes. That will reset everything, and assuming its not a dead hard disk or something like that, should give you a working player that you can install rockbox on.
