Just so you know, rockbox has nothing to do with linux.

Assuming you mean the sandisk updater, both the bin file and the the sandisk updater are linked from the same page on their website.  I'm guessing you clicked the wrong link.

thanks i guess i just need to read  :-[

now i get this:

[root@Desktop rbinstall]# sudo ./mkamsboot fuzea.bin bootloader-fuze.sansa patched.bin
sudo: ./mkamsboot: command not found
[root@Desktop rbinstall]# ./mkamsboot fuzea.bin bootloader-fuze.sansa patched.bin
bash: ./mkamsboot: Permission denied

Yes you do.
1. Why aren't you using Rockbox Utility?

--- Quote ---[root@Desktop rbinstall]# sudo ./mkamsboot fuzea.bin bootloader-fuze.sansa patched.bin

--- End quote ---

2. Why are you using sudo here? Using sudo here is a bad idea, and the manual doesn't tell anything about using sudo for mkamsboot.

--- Quote ---[root@Desktop rbinstall]# ./mkamsboot fuzea.bin bootloader-fuze.sansa patched.bin
bash: ./mkamsboot: Permission denied

--- End quote ---

3. You need to set the executable bit on mkamsboot.

Impossible. If so, why haven't you been using Rockbox Utility in the first place? It does run on Linux (and the manual recommends using it since it simplifies things a lot).

onus:
neat rockbox utility!

okay that worked :D but now i cant mount my sansa on either windows or linux... :,(
