iVideo 1.2 suddenly stopped working (rockbox 3.10)

(1/1)

joshua wood:
Hi,

This is for an ipod 5.5 video.
I did a clean install of Rockbox 3.9.0 (deleted the whole .rockbox folder and started again). I installed the iVideo 1.2 theme, and it worked well. I did inplace upgrades to 3.9.1 and 3.10 (simply replace the folders, rather than removing all .rockbox content first). The theme continued to work fine, until suddenly on Firday, the WPS displays something similar to the rockbox_fail_safe WPS. If I check the WPS settings, it says "iVideo" as expected. It simply fails to display.

Today, I did some testing. I did a clean install of 3.10 with iVideo, and it failed to correctly display the WPS again. I then did a clean install of 3.9.1 with iVideo, and it works as expected. I have not done an inplace upgrade to 3.10 because that's rather difficult with OSX 10.6 (there is only a folder replace, no folder merge like windows, so I need to folder diff/merge).

But why would it suddenly stop working? Are there breaking changes for skins in 3.10?

Why it was working fine with 3.10 for a while then suddenly stopped,  yet a clean 3.10 fails out of the box, is beyond me.

Any ideas on how I can further troubleshoot?

Edit; I should note that it's only the WPS screen causing issues. The menus all display the iVideo theme correctly, including in 3.10.

Thanks

The news for me is that the theme worked on 3.10, it never did for me. It worked of course until 3.9.1, and worked again after 3.10 until a month ago (at least), using current builds. Unfortunately, I have been following recent changes only distantly, and although I have a couple theories about the problem, I'm not really sure what's causing it. If it's a buffer problem, I wouldn't know how to adapt most of my themes without eliminating some features. But since it was working again on recent builds, and since 3.10 took down nearly all the themes I made (25 or something like that) meaning a lot of changing and re uploading, I decided not to worry too much about it for now. I can't build my own simulator right now, and the one available on the site is for 3.9, so there isn't much I can do for now anyway, sorry.

Strange, since I'm not updating with current builds - I was just running 3.10 stable. I've downgraded to 3.9.1 in the meantime. Thanks for your comments.
