Unbricking IRiver H340
« on: January 24, 2012, 12:04:33 PM »
I have a H340 and plan to upgrade the drive to 240GB soon, as i have read so far, yes its possible to get ti working, but bootloaders can lead to a bricked device, so does anyone know how to unbrick this player?

I cannot find information anywhere on the internet, surely by now someone somewhere must know how it is done.

So if its possible, how come nobody has actually made the BDM module, and tried fixing the bootloader?  I realise its an old device, but one of the better Rockbox players, it just needs a more up to date bootloader with large disk support.

If there were such an expert, i would be willing to lend my player to them so that we can all benefit.

If you start with old boot bootloaders, it is easy by following wiki procedures to descramble/mkboot/scramble/install.
I know that 19309 is fine. It is running now on my H340/240GB :)
Even without modification in this release, you can still start the native firmware, it is very soon in the code.

Various people have done this.

Because there's a difference between "Trying to fix the bootloader" and "succeeding in figuring out what's wrong with it." It's a tricky problem.
