Problem with database

(1/1)

JackTheImprovident:
A while ago I installed rockbox on my ipod video (an 80 gig 5.5 gen with the hard drive replaced with a 240 gig)  and it worked fine until I dropped it once while it was building the database and neither rockbox nor the native firmware would boot.

I figured the hard drive had been damaged while spinning but after I restored it in itunes it seemed to work fine with itunes. When I tried to reinstall rockbox though it wouldn't boot. After rockbox underwent some recent updates, it would finally both install and boot successfully again.

However when I activated the database and rebooted it would stall out on the "building databse 1/9" message and never successfully boot up completely. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling but it still gives me the database building message and doesn't succesfully start, yet the native firmware still works fine and I can't hear anything that sounds like the hard drive having difficulty running.

Is there any suggestion for how to fix this problem short of restoring it to the factory settings yet again and erasing everything on it.
