Sansa Clip+ : Recording glitches
« on: January 13, 2012, 06:22:02 AM »
Hi there.

I am a first timer here, and I'd first like to congratulate the Rockbox team for their work.

With its original firmware, my Clip+ can record. The quality is arguable, but there are no glitches.

With Rockbox version 3.10 (installed yesterday) (which I found to be the latest release if I am correct), I cannot get any recordings without glitches.
I tried many samplerates, many formats, but I never get a normal result.

Please find here-attached a screen capture. You can see the waveform has discontinuities. (e.g. with a sine, at some point the waveform jumps from min to max amplitude). Those are causing audio glitches.

What could I be doing wrong?
Or is it a known problem?

Thanks a lot

Update to the current build.  This was probably fixed a while back.

Thanks for your answer.

I had understood that the Builds were sort of unstable, or incomplete, while Releases were the "shipping" versions.

I suppose you suggest it is common to use the Builds rather than the Releases.

I will try that.

Thanks again.

I just tried the current build and it's fixed!

Really good.

Well done Rockbox!

Regards.

The only real difference is that releases get branched and frozen for a little while so bugs can hopefully be worked out.  Still, there's no guarantee that a particular current build will be any buggier than a given release.  Current builds usually work quite well in my experience.

Yes, these issue were addressed on AMS players that related to interrupt latency.
