Sansa e200 v1 - Rockbox not remembering playback position
(1/1)
rockboxuser01:
I'm using my Sansa e200 v1 with Rockbox 3.10 to play my MP3 podcasts, which are copied across to the root of the Sansa's internal memory using MusicBee on my Windows 7 x64 PC. When I play a podcast, pause it (instead of stopping it with the Menu button), let the Sansa turn itself off (after 10 mins) and then turn it back on at a later point to continue listening, the Sansa 'forgets' that it was playing the file and will give the message 'Nothing to resume'.
Also, if I pause or stop a podcast halfway through, connect the Sansa to my computer and copy some new podcasts into the same directory, then disconnect it and resume listening, playback will have moved onto one of the other podcasts in the directory and will resume from a random point in the middle, never from the beginning.
Is there any way I can fix this? It's an annoying bug which I'm sure never used to be present, but I can't remember when it started occurring...

Try a newer build? I tried auto shutoff when paused and my resumes were fine.

I downloaded r31646-120109 and the problem is still there. I've been using Rockbox since 2007 and I don't remember this problem being there at the start but I'm not sure when it started occuring either. Does anyone have any further ideas?
jhMikeS:
As far as the first point goes, I'm not sure why it should happen and I can't reproduce it. Does anything else matter such as the length of the file? What about a regular music tracks? Just when does it work as expected for you, if ever?
As for the second point, some heuristic code also has been removed. As I understand it, it has to do with the playlist's use of indexes in the directory instead of filenames and it misidentifying the new file as the old one. There was some discussion of how to fix that problem.
I suppose at least couple options exist:
* Put new podcasts in different directories
* Don't rely upon resume and live with it for now
* Fix the playlist code :D

I've been testing it further over the last couple of weeks and frustratingly, I've generally not been able to reproduce it with either FLAC music tracks and MP3 podcasts although there have been a couple of occasions where I've stopped playback on a podcast and the second symptom I mentioned (skipping ahead to a random point in a track in the same directory) has happened instead. Again though, I can't reproduce this with any regularity.
I guess I'll just put up with it and hope that somebody brings out an Android phone with (much) better battery life so I can use Google Listen at the end of a day's phone usage!
