4GB iPod nano 2g will not turn on after installing rockbox
« on: January 09, 2012, 12:31:20 AM »
hello comrades!.

Race recently installed rockbox on my ipod nano 2g, when you unplug to restart I'm wrong and do not press the right combination for reset (menu + play / pause).
The point is that the iPod is turned off and lit again, connect it to the pc (win 7) and neither itunes or the pc recognize it.
Then try to restart the ipod (Holk off, menu + center button) to put it into disk mode (menu + play / pause), but even so the pc does not recognize it.
An important fact when I do a combination of buttons to restart, after 6 sec. headphones on you hear a small beep! static but nothing else happens.

I'm desperate truth is not to do and actually did all the wrong installation process.
because they follow the instructions in another guide which was in Spanish, because they do not understand much English.

I hope you can help and guide me step by step, since I'm new to all this.

- if the item does not apply to this section please do not delete, move where applicable Please .--

With greetings from Chile.
sorry for my bad English xD

It's rather a bad idea to follow outside instructions for installing Rockbox, because a mistake is guaranteed to be made or a step forgotten which will trip up a *lot* of people.

We have manuals for every target right here on this site, and those that don't have manuals will have install instructions on the wiki.

You can also use Rockbox Utility to install Rockbox on your nano; click here to download that.

Apple's Disk Mode should always work unless the hardware is damaged.

No, your iPod isn't dead.

Put your iPod into Disk Mode (press and hold MENU+SELECT until it restarts, then press and hold SELECT+PLAY until it comes up), restore your iPod in iTunes, and then try installing again using Rockbox Utility. You can also run the manual through Google Translate if you need to.

Sorry for late reply.

I have dealt with DFU mode, but still the PC does not recognize the ipod at all. And this does not turn on.  :'(

You say that the solution is to continue dealing with DFU mode?
