Delay on track change with Clip Zip
(1/1)
Fierce1979:
Afternoon all
Firstly may I clarify my position in saying that I understand roughly 2% of what I've read in here :D
I bought a Sansa Clip Zip because it was recommended to me, along with RockBox as having exceptional sound quality for the size and price of it
So I installed RockBox as per the first post in this thread
All is well, it sounds so much better than the iPod I was using before that, but I am getting the 2-3 seconds delay before each track starts
Did I DL the right file? If anyone has any advice for me, I'd be grateful if it came in a total noobs language please :D
EDIT: I only get the delay when choosing the first file, or skipping to the next one. If I let an album play through I have no delay
Edit2: renamed thread title.

Went to bump this as I couldn't see it on the first page, and its telling me that the topic hasn't been posted in for at least 120 days!!

Hello Fierce 1979,
the clip zip port is still a work in progress and it is still labelled as "unstable". So be patient I am sure that in future builds this problem is gone.
Or try a daily build, that you can find here: http://www.rockbox.org/daily.shtml and see if everything is fine now.
Hope you can enjoy rockbox as much as I do.
Greetings,
c_k

Do the files contain album art? If so, that could take a little while to decode, especially if it is a big jpeg image.
Other than that, what are you actually measuring? WPS updating with the new track info? Sound output, which could include some leading silence from the track itself?
sockbox:
Try enabling Directory Cache. It should be enabled by default.
Settings -> General -> System -> Disk -> Directory Cache -> Yes
Looks like there's another thread on this issue. So it's not limited to the zip or clip+...
