GoGear HDD6330/17 install problem

(1/1)

Ciderbat:
I tried installing RockBox on my HDD6330/17 using the utility, which seemed to go fine until I tried booting it and it hung on the GoGear screen. I had also installed the boot loader, but to no avail. I've restored it to the OF using an old HDD6330/17 I have, but I really want Rock Box on there. Has anyone else managed to install RB on said model with success? Is there any reason it might not work? Does the /17 denote a different chipset? I'm a bit of a noob here...

LambdaCalculus:
I have a GoGear HDD6330/17 as well, and have been running Rockbox on it since the beginnings of the port.

Have you put your GoGear into UMS mode before running Rockbox Utility? To do this, connect your device to your computer, and then press and hold the Power switch and the + button until it resets, then quickly press and hold the - button until your OS picks up on it. Rockbox Utility should see it as well.

If Rockbox Utility isn't working for you, you can always try installing Rockbox manually. Instructions are here:

The System Log of Rockbox Utility (Help / Troubleshooting / System Log) of the installation might be interesting to see if something obvious went wrong here.
