[Sansa Fuze v1] "*PANIC* stkov dircache" problem

(1/1)

Phen0m:
Hi there!

I had suddenly a problem one day while I was simply listening music.
A white screen appears, the player freezes and it says

--- Code: ---*PANIC*
sktov dircache
--- End code ---
Each time I turn on my player, this screen shows up and I can't do anything else than turning off my Sansa Fuze.

I made a couple of searches and found a way to reinstall the original Sansa firmware. Then, I tried to reinstall Rockbox using the RockboxUtility and I managed to do it, even if I have very few freed disk space. But, as I was happily turning on my Sansa with the RockBox 3.10 build, the same white screen appeared again.

I would like to know what can I do to fix this problem.

By the way, what if I format my Sansa Fuze? I mean, will it delete the original firmware as well and leave an "empty" Sansa, without firmware and consequently, without way to use it? I don't think so, but I want to be sure as I plan to do that in order to fix the problem.

Also, I'm really amazed by the work done with RockBox; it's such an awesomely rich firmware...

I'm eagerly waiting for your answer. Thanks.

Check the file system for errors.

Phen0m:
What do you mean? My Sansa is in FAT32.
Indeed, I recently switches from Windows to a new Linux computer and, when I plug it to my new Linux (Ubuntu) one, it reads "filesystem: msdos"...

Apparently, it seems to work fine, even if I didn't do anything for. The white screen is no longer shows, at least for the time being.
