Always mention what version of rockbox you're running.

Anyway, I'm guessing you're running 3.10 or older.  That version doesn't have USB support, so either use the sandisk software for USB, or update to a current build.

I thought 3.10 is final version cuz its appears when you try automatic installation.

We release 5-10 builds a day.  3.10 is from a couple weeks ago.

I updated to v31444 and USB is working now (even the 2nd SD card is recognized :-). But I still have problems with the car adapter mode: The player is still booting the Sansa FW and not Rockbox when it was shut down and external power is on again :-| Can this be fixed? If not, car adapter mode is pretty useless for me.

Thanks for the quick answer! Will there be a new version of RockboxUtility which uses the new mkamsboot mentioned in the referred thread or do I have that do by myself?

Eventually rbutil will be updated.  If you can't wait, you'll have to compile it (or just the command line too) itself.

I just installed r31450-111227 on my Clip+.  I was thrilled to see that plugging into the USB didn't reboot to the OF; however, the first time I plugged it in, Windows 7 64-bit was unable to find a driver.  I unplugged the Clip+ and it just hung there with the USB connector on the screen (although the screen did turn off and turn back on if I pushed a button) so I powered the unit down and restarted.  The second time, it was able to locate device drivers and the two removable drives showed up, but it did not display any files in them.  I ejected the drives and unplugged the unit - again it hung and had to be rebooted.  The third time, it seemed to work fine until I tried to open a file, then Windows Explorer hung.  It eventually came back and gave an error that the directory was invalid then no files showed up in the directory.

Just a note that it is not bug free yet, but that it is on its way to being usable.

When i turn on my player rockbox is on, i can listen music everything is perfect. Then i plug it into USB - player show that he is in charge, but PC not seeing flash drive.

I think what he means is this:

In previous stable builds, you could boot a device into Rockbox, play a file, and if you plugged it into your computer via USB to charge, the device would continue to play your file. It was nice, because you could finish your podcast/audiobook/song while charging the device.

In the latest daily builds, this no longer seems to be the case. You can boot into Rockbox, player a file, and if you plug it into your computer via USB to charge, the device stops playing and a USB plug appears on the screen.

I know that plugging in without having to boot into the OF is a new feature, but losing the ability to listen while plugged in seems like a regression.

What's not clear is if there's a setting to adjust to regain the previous functionality, or if having the new pluggable functionality means the previous functionality is now unavailable.

Hold any button while inserting USB.  FWIW, this has been in the manual for ages.

I have also some hickups using the new USB feature. Is there any means to help getting it more stable? I'm on r31646-120109.
Except that, I'm very happy, since copying songs to the player is MUCH faster, than with OF (4MByte/s vs. some hundred kBytes)! Thanks al lot!!!  ;D
