help editing the config.cfg > rec directory: ????????? <SOLVED>

Super easy question from a noob, what EXACTLY should the line look like to make my clip+ record to the card??

I have tried everything I could think of! Pretty sure it starts out

also what is the procedure to prepare a new 32GB for use in a clip+ ? I just pushed it in and rockbox sees it but oddly the additional space does not appear under INFO in the original firmware. Is that a problem?

(and yes I searched the forums and used google, but it's way past my bedtime and my eyes are getting RED)

You need to give the path where you want to save the recordings.  Recall that the microSD card gets mounted to /<microSD1>/.

Rockbox should be able to read the card if it's formatted as FAT32.  I don't know about the original firmware.  If you don't plan to use the original firmware then it probably isn't a problem.

the card is formatted FAT32, and there is a folder called MUSIC on it.

so I added the line

rec directory: /<microSD1>/MUSIC

didn't work. And as in all the times before this line was gone after rebooting the player. I removed the check from the ARCHIVE box for the config file but same result.

So two questions, did I edit the file properly? And why does the new line always disappear after rebooting?

I just added a record directory on a 3.10 sim (by long press select on a directory from the file browser), the entry add to the config file was;

rec path: /test

Maybe the manual needs updating?

@ Nick P THANK YOU so much for posting!! The manual is indeed inaccurate, to record to the card root the line should read:

rec path: /<microSD1>

not  rec directory.
