Clip+ 4GB - Every time I plug in via USB, resets to factory firmware.

(1/1)

Bobazonski:
It doesn't matter if I plug it into a PC or a car/wall charger. Upon plugging it in, it will go to the "select a language" screen on Sandisk's firmware. Because of this, I use a removable card to add songs, but I still need to charge it, obviously.

Is there some way to remove the factory firmware, or possibly another option? Anything? Because it's really irritating to have to reinstall Rockbox every week or two.

Thanks

saratoga:
We have dual booting on the Clip+.  If you reboot into the sandisk firmware, just reboot to get back to rockbox.

Bobazonski:
Sorry, I'm sure these are simple questions. I'm still getting familiar with Rockbox. But how do I choose which to boot into? There is no menu at startup.

If you plug in USB, you get the OF.  If you don't, you get Rockbox.  FWIW, we do have a manual.

Bobazonski:
The manual quickly answered my question. I just have to start the device before plugging in the USB cable. I have referred to the manual for many other functions, but didn't think it would have information pertaining to this issue. I suppose that's my own naiveté showing.  :-[

Thanks saratoga.
