After installing Rockbox onto my Sansa Fuse, I get the following error.

Before installing Rockbox, my Fuse had the drive letter F: associated with it, but after I updated the firmware and installed rockbox, nothing is associated with the drive letter F:, though it does show up in drop-down filesystem list. When I click on F:, I get the following error:

The following errors occurred:  Mountpoint does not exist. You need to fix the above errors before you can continue.

Before installing the firmware update, I had already changed the mode from mtp to msc. Is it possible it got changed back somehow after installing the firmware update. If so, how do I change it back from within Rockbox?

You typed all that to ask if its possible the OF is set to MTP?  Why not just check

But yes, by default the OF will always use MTP mode when you flash it.  You have to manually switch to MSC after every update.

No, I typed all that to ask how to fix my problem. I added the last comment as a suggestion. And if it was the problem, I made sure to ask "if so, how do I change it back from within Rockbox?" Also, considering I just joined the community, what makes you think I know what "OF" means?

You can't change it back from within Rockbox. Fortunately there's dual boot, since you use the original firmware for USB transfers anyway, so it would make sense that it's in the original firmware that you need to change the setting, just like you did the first time.

That's impossible. There is no player "Sansa Fuse", and there is no player like that supported by Rockbox.

Sure. F: does not exist. It shows up because it has been selected before, and since the configuration is saved there's still F: in the configuration. That behaviour is also useful if you simply forgot to connect the player, in which case you usually can simply connect it and press Ok on the configuration dialog. That obviously doesn't work if the player isn't connected (or Windows decided to assign it a different drive letter).

No idea how one joins a community by posting in a forum, but because you already read the FAQ and searched the forums, as the forum guidelines ask you to do?

When you installed rockbox the wiki and manual both defined OF when they linked you to the download for it.  I guess you could be so smart you figured out how to find it without reading the text, but in that case you could probably guess it means "original firmware"

As for "OF", hopefully I'll be pardoned for not reading the entire glossary before asking my question. I think casual use of abbreviations should be saved for when discussing problems with more experienced users.

Hey, thanks for the helpful advice. So, if I uninstall Rockbox, will my original firmware still be in place? If not, how do I get my original firmware back onto my Sansa, since I have no way to add files to the player at this point, and it has no drive letter?

We don't have USB support in rockbox for your player, so we set it to dual boot to use USB mode.  You need to boot into the OF and then change the USB setting.  If this is unclear, I suggest the manual.

Nevermind, I figured out how to dual-boot. I didn't find the manual much help, especially since it seems to only be referring to the apple ipod, but thanks for leading me in the right direction. Anyway, I switched the mode back over to msc, yet I'm still having the same issue. How do I create a valid mountpoint for this thing?

When I open the rockbox utility, I select F: from the dropdown menu where it says "Select your device in the filesystem", but I'm still getting the same errors as before. Is there some other way of pointing my player at a drive letter that I don't know of? And every time I select autodetect, the Rockbox utility crashes. When I use the Sansa firmware, autodetect works and assigns me a drive letter. But when I have Rockbox on, I can't get a drive letter; I don't know how I'm supposed to add files to it, and autodetect keeps crashing.

I understood your previous post and realized that I wouldn't be able to change the USB mode from within Rockbox, so I changed it within the OF. But what does your previous comment have to do with my problem now? I'm not understanding. Is Rockbox not capable of connecting to my computer via usb or something?
