Audio aliasing in FM radio(Sansa Fuzev2)
« on: November 29, 2011, 09:58:00 AM »
I ran a spectrogram on a radio show recorded on my  Sansa Fuze v2 w/ latest build and saw obvious aliasing artefacts as if there was some on-the-fly sample rate conversion. I've tried changing recording settings from 44.1kHz 48kHz and I see the same artefacts in each case. Also during radio playback I'm hearing harshness in the high trebles, all of this seems to suggest SRC is happening independently of recording settings. Is there any way to force the native sample rate so as to avoid any conversions?

Just recorded some guitar strumming via internal mic at each sample rate setting from 8k to 96k, in each case there was aliasing when looking at the spectrogram :/

EDIT: >64kHz sample rate the aliasing aretefacts are inaudible through my Etymotic HF5, so I guess that's my workaround for now.

Turns out I was using the latest release not latest build. Before discovering this I determined the aliasing is recording related, playback and FM radio in it self is free of aliasing. I will post in the recording subforum  should the problems persist in the current build. Please feel free to lock this thread.
