need help rockboxing sansa clip+ on win7

ok tried the rockbox utility, windows doesn't assaign the player i drive letter so it doesn't show up on the dropdown list, when you click autodetect, the utility crashes.
tried to do a manual install, copied the .rockbox folder to the root directory, copied the patched.bin file created mkamsboot, renamed it to clppa.bin, rebooted, just boots into the OF. suggestions?
edit: ok tried it again, now it tried to boot to rockbox, says loading firmware, file not found

You skipped the step where you put it into MSC mode.

Boot into the Sandisk firmware, switch to MSC mode, and then start the install over.

Thanks that did it, now adjusting EQs trying to remember the great sounding settings i had on the ipod b4 it died

The same settings from an iPod will probably not give you the same sound from the Clip+.....different hardware is involved. Fortunately, there are enough settings to tweak that you should be able to find your preferred sound with a little trial and error.
