Database Freezing
« on: November 16, 2011, 05:08:11 PM »
I just recently installed Rockbox 3.9.1 on my iPod 5.5 80GB and I am having trouble with it finding my music. Since I have been using iTunes for years, I very much like to just leave everything on the iPod as it is. After reading the FAQ and other posts, my understating is I need to use the Database feature to do that. However every time I run it, it finds 9970 files and freezes. I should say that search freezes not Rockbox; no HDD access icon showing. The only thing I can do after that is to hard reset it, but it doesn’t save any of the database information. I’d really like to get this to work, but a few days in I am thinking about uninstalling. Someone please help, thanks.

Additional info: All of my music is self-ripped as MP3 by iTunes; not from the Store. I believe all that tags are correct, again done in iTunes. I only have 9437 songs on the iPod so I don’t know why it is finding more than that. I let the Database search run 24 hours and no change. The only other thing on my iPod is Sharepod.

EDIT: If this is in the wrong forum section, sorry.

Under system > debug try enabling database logging.  Then try rebuilding it.  When it crashes, reboot.  There should be a database log in the root of your player.  Hopefully the last file on that list is the one that crashed it.

If you could remove that file from your player and then upload it to our bug tracker we can probably fix that crash.

What happens after the database goes through all the music, because I think the problem happens there. The logs shows that all the songs have been analyzed. From F00 to F49 all songs are complete and accounted for.
