Distortion/Scratchy Treble Ipod 4G
oddsratio:
Hi and thanks for resources on this forum. Reading through your replies has gotten me over some initial bumps on loading rockbox onto my player.
Unfortunately some of the tracks that I've loaded are suffering from scratchy playback and distortion, particularly on female vocals, sounding pretty horrible. I've compared the files on the original firmware and on my hard drive and this distortion isn't present. What information would I be able to provide to track down the source of the problem? All sound settings right now are stock, no eq or any other effects, and I've reinstalled the firmware twice and reloaded the tracks.
From what I read, it might be an encoding issue, and I'll submit it to the bugtracker once I figure out protocol, but I'm hoping to fix it. In the meantime I will be switching back to ipod's firmware, which, while it sounds better for now, leaves a lot to be desired after trying out rockbox.
Tracks tested are both mp3 V0 and Flac, so it's not an issue of quality or the phones.

Copy and past the contents of the config file in your .rockbox folder.

this is the only thing in the document when I open it in my text editor:
# .cfg file created by rockbox 3.9.1 - http://www.rockbox.org
Chronon:
Try reinstalling Rockbox.

Tried that a couple times. Reinstalled & the config file now reads:
# .cfg file created by rockbox 3.9.1 - http://www.rockbox.org
volume: -52
car adapter mode: on
This distortion only affects a certain number of tracks, which isn't fixed by resyncing.
