Quiet Start (Sound Volume) in morning

(1/2) > >>

Hi All!

My English not very good, but I hope you'll can understand me   ;)

So,

Problem:
Every morning I switch on my Sansa Clip+ and get blow to the ears (tympanic membranes).  >:(
It happened because after hearing music during all day hearing sensitivity decreases, but after sleeping sensitivity increases and last sound volume too loud for ears.

Solution:
After pause in music playing (more than 30min, for example) and starting playing again - RockBox must save value of sound volume after 30sec after start playing (you have time to adjust the comfortable volume level after the music starts). Let this be a variable Volume1.

When RockBox shutdown it saves current sound volume as Volume2 (It works this way and now).

Now, when RockBox starts to play music in morning - it will set sound volume equal Min(Volume1, Volume2). Every morning you start hearing the music with sound volume as yesterday morning (or evening if it was less). Problem is solved!

What do you think about it?  :)

saratoga:
I don't think this is something we want in rockbox.  You're of course free to implement it yourself though.

Don't you have this problem every morning? )

bluebrother:
No.

Sounds like you want to use a fixed.cfg (or whatever the exact name was) which is already available.

Many players have a volume limit when starting up, a simple "max volume at startup" option would solve this, so that if the volume is higher than a value, say, -3, the player sets it back to -3 the next time you turn it on.

It would help us preserve our ears without being as invasive as a volume limit; should be a simple patch, if anyone is willing to work on it.
