Fuze V1 32gb microsd hc problem with 3.71 solved by 3.9.1
« on: November 13, 2011, 07:01:48 AM »
I recently purchased a SanDisk 32gb microsdhc card to upgrade from a SanDisk 16gb microsdhc card.

The Sansa software recognizes the card with the usual Sansa OS limitations (SDCard 30424 MB) and reads the tracks within the track limitations.

Rockbox indicates in the Rockbox info menu that "MSD: Not present" and will not read the card or the tracks on it.

In the Debug menu under "view disk info" for [microSD 1] SU32G Rev 8.0  Prod: 1/2011 Blocks: 0x3B72400 are listed.

This card works perfectly in W7, is formatted for FAT32 and is recognized and read by the Sansa software so I do not believe that this is a formatting problem.

I am running Rockbox version 3.7.1   (sansafuze 3.71-r28790-101211).

I have not upgraded RockBox recently since the version that I am running has no problems with the functions that I use.  Is there something that I should do or will the current release correct this?

Problem solved!!!!

Just upgraded to current release of RockBox 3.9.1 and the 32gb microsdhc card appears to be working perfectly.

Now have 40gb of music....fantastic!!!

Thanks!

Just for the record (since you already figured it): this is an outdated version. We don't support outdated versions at all. Before asking, always update to the latest release. If that doesn't fix your problem try a current build. If the problem persists ask.

Good point!!

I have followed that advice as best I can.

However, I have stayed away from the recent releases because there appears to be a problem with running themes in 3.9.1.

At this point I had to use release 3.9.1 to use the 32gb mocrosdhc.

Please reference my post in the themes forum.

Hi,

I have a sandisk class 4 32gb microsd that my fuze v2 and my e260, both running rockbox 3.10, won't read.  It came from Amazon, I can copy songs to it and play them on my computer, it's formatted fat32, and it passes a scan with h2testw.  Under debug the players report that the disk is

SU32G Rev 8.0,
M=03,
0=SD,
Blocks 0x03872400,
Speed 25.0mbit/s,
Taac:10.0ms,
Nsac: 0 clk,
R2W *2,

But they don't show any entry for microSD1 under the files menu.  No songs!

The original sansa os scans the disk and reports it "empty."

Does anybody have any idea how I can get my sandisk players to read my sandisk microsd card??

Is the card partitioned or does it use the superfloppy format? Does chkdsk report errors? Does it work with a current build?

I just bought a 32gb micro sdhc card. And I just updated to the latest firmware. It's formatted as NTFS. I'm not able to read the card. Please help.

I believe card needs to be formatted as fat32. Have you read confirmation that ntfs is ok?

NTFS is not supported. The standard filesystem for SDHC cards is FAT32. This is even specified for SDHC.

bluebrother,

Thanks for the response.  Chkdisk shows no problems.  I think it must be "superfloppy" because Windows device manager says type "removable" and partition style "not applicable."  I haven't tried a recent build.  Has work been done on the sd stuff since 3.10?

I installed the latest build -- still can't read the sd.

I *think* Rockbox should handle the superfloppy format but I'm not entirely sure, especially not for removable media. Try reformatting the card with a partition table.

Possible. See the log on the front page or just give it a try -- there's no risk involved, you can downgrade again to 3.10 without problems.

Well, oddly enough, even though it came from the factory formatted, and it was working perfectly moving files and playing songs when plugged into the pc, re-formatting it under xp seems to have solved my problem.  Now the player see it and plays the songs I put on it.  Evidently there is something about the fat32 file system put on the card at the factory that the player -- but not the pc -- didn't like.  At any rate, it seems that I have solved my problem.
