Enrich database A-Z view

Hi there,

my name's Matthias and I'm a new user of rockbox (on iPad Video)
and I must say: IT'S GREAT!

The main reason for me using rockbox is the crossfade feature
which my former player (the Trekstor Vibez) had natively
(maybe as the one and only player).

Now there's one feature of the Vibez that I really miss in Rockbox,
and I'd like to ask if it possibly could be implemented:

When using the A-Z view of the database, then there is 'only the A-Z'.
But really useful is seeing the respective artists to the right of the A-Z.
So when you scroll to 'U' you would instantly see 'Underworld', "U2" and "US3" for example
as a second column - with the ability to move to the right (and then scrolling up and down)
to select one of those artists.

To cut a long story short: it would be great to have the screen that appears after selecting
a letter right beside the letter, so that you don't have to go 'inside' the letter to see what's there.

Is there any chance this can make it into rockbox?

If I understand you correctly you basically want to split the browser in half and have a-z in one list and then each artist in the selected letter in another list next to it?
It's an interesting idea but not possible without major surgery to lots of important bits in rockbox, so it is very unlikely to happen.

Too bad. It would really enhance the A-Z - especially with larger collections
and for people who don't know exactly what to choose in advance.
