Regarding the AVI file that you converted, can you give some details on it?  i.e. original file size, resolution of the avi, what codec it was encoded with, whether it used pcm audio, etc?  Thanks!

I can try to tell you what I know.  I used a program called convert2rvf that I'm pretty sure I found through a google search from some french site.  It was a while ago, back when rumours of wett's video were only floating around.  As far as the avi file I converted, it was a big one.  About 349MB. and 624x352.  The audio was mp3 and it was 23fps with Xvid.  Hope that helps a little.

can u explain in a little more detail of how to have more than one build, i get an error message. I followed the steps---new folder with different builds but with different names so it dosen't replace it-----then run the iriver file---then get an error message

I think its beacuse it tries to use my main .rockbox folder when i want it to use a different .rockbox folder(different builds, different codecs)........ but I don't know

I'm sorry, I had no idea this multiple builds thing was a kind of feature and that it wasn't working on  ipod. I hope it gets implemented soon.

Thanks gtheule.  I tried using that program and I found it to be pretty difficult to use.  I went back to the video tools that are in english. So far i've converted a more few videos to rvf.  My latest findings:

1) Half hour shows are best suited for such conversions.  Converting movies takes a while, and the end result is mediocre at best.
2) The sound and video play a little slow.  I tried watching Sopranos and found that it was kind of hard to watch.
3) Anime tends to work decently.  At least it was bearable to watch (although it too faces the slow sound and video problem)

Yeah I used to work on video plugin port to h1x0, but I kinda gave up with the synch thing, I was just not skilled enough to improve that and ran out of time... And now my player's broken I'm currently trying to make it work.

It's not sure i'll work again on this, damn it was a free-time killer !

Btw, it was exciting at first but honestly, playing video is not so cool at all. H1x0 screen is nothing but ugly.

Hi Wett!  Sorry to hear about your misfortune.  I've always regarded the video feature as more of a nice gimmick rather than a must have feature.  However, that being said, whenever I am bored and don't have a book, computer, or tv nearby, I like to watch some videos on my iRiver, especially short clips of tv shows. 

If there was anything I would like for you to do, if you get your iRiver fixed, would be to have the video play full screen.  The audio-video sync isn't too much of a problem, but it'd be nice if that could be done as well.  If only there was a way I could contribute somehow to this project, but I don't have any programming skills (I'm a biologist by trade)!  The only thing I can offer is encouragement, Wett!  Good luck!
