Then it's what Saint said, make a theme so that it never uses the chosen font. The font will only be used for the keyboard.

On the other hand, it'd be good if Rockbox had an option to specifically change the on-screen keyboard font, even when not using a custom layout. I wonder if this is too hard to implement (and now with buflib, the font doesn't need to be always loaded in memory, loading only when you open the keyboard...).
