Video Tutorial for Beginners
« on: October 22, 2011, 07:59:40 PM »
Hi there, just installed Rockbox and have to say it's a great piece of software, thanks so much for all the hard work you've put into it.

Just thought I'd plug this video tutorial on youtube, perhaps it could be useful to have a link to this somewhere?
It's pretty useful to get you up to speed quickly with Rockbox.

We generally don't like to advertise 3rd party instructions. They can become out of date pretty soon, and it's unlikely someone updates them. We have a manual that should cover things.

Besides, how is this related to Rockbox Utility?

Hello, sorry I didn't mean to advertise, I just wanted to let others know about the video as it helped me out.

Don't get me wrong, your instructions are great, I just think that personally I'm lazy and a video is much quicker for me to get to know generally how great Rockbox is so I thought making the link sticky would help similar lazy people like me see how good it is before downloading it?

Funny, they even discuss Rockbox on a device called "Sansa Fuse". There is no such player ... (there's a Sansa Fuze, but that's something different.)

Err ... no.

We want people to follow our instructions simple because we know these instructions -- dealing with instructions (be it a video or something else) done by 3rd parties means additional work for the people working at Rockbox at least once users have problems and turn up here, and there's already enough work to get done. So unless you want the people working at Rockbox having less time for working at Rockbox you should stick to the official instructions and not advertise others.
