H140 dead, even with new hard drive
« on: October 21, 2011, 08:58:22 PM »
H140 died, thought it was the hard drive. When it was powered on the red led would blink periodically and there would be a clicking noise. Rockbox would be stuck at the bootloader screen. The original firmware would boot up but it would see zero files. When connected to a computer it would not appear in windows although it would say USB connected on the player. Just tried putting a new hard drive in and it is still doing the same thing.

Any ideas?

Edit:
Looks like one of the battery wires was severed too.
I took out the battery, took out the hard drive, and plugged in an ac adapter. The green led blinks. I can turn on the player and get an ata error -11 insert usb cable and press a button.
If I press the reset button I get the iriver original firmware splash screen and a check hdd connection message. So it seems the firmware is intact. Yet when I put the new hard drive into the player (no battery yet, just ordered a new one) I can't get it to be viewable in windows or get rockbox to boot up.

Thanks
