auto playback start
« on: October 21, 2011, 07:11:39 PM »
I like that my player starts playback on power-up, especially in car mode ... except it does it even if last state before going to sleep or being powered-off was NOT playback.

Is it more logical that on power-on we return to last state or there is a way to do it already?

Here is my actual problem: in car mode I stop playing audio-book because my family is riding with me (just pause RB and turn off car-radio). On the way back we start the car my RB powers on and starts playing on its own. Next day I find I've missed 40 minutes of the book and have to recall where I stopped listening.

Change the start up setting to something other then resume.

Yes, this is obvious "solution", as well as unplug the power. Are you saying "resume to last state" option doesn't make sense? IMHO it's more logical than forced "resume to play". I understand desire to start playback ASAP but is it case when player was stopped/paused?

I assume you're using the "resume to last screen" and not just "resume to WPS" in which case you should try actually stopping playback rather than just pausing it. Invoking the WPS resumes playback if playback is stopped, which happens during shutdown. Meanwhile if you'd shut down from the menu (as you would if you'd stopped playback) it shouldn't auto-resume unless you actually shut down from the WPS.

Thanks Llorean (and Saratoga) for help. It's a bit counter-intuitive but yes, it works. I was afraid that "stop" would reset position in current playback but it didn't.

So again my problem is solved but don't you think that "resume to last state" option makes sense? BTW, IMHO all these "resume" options belong to "playback" sub-menu.

It's not exactly needed if you've read the manual and know how the player works, is it? Is there something you still can't do?

I guess I was trying to say that "resume to last state" is logical if not most expected behavior. Cheers!
