The player seems to function completely fine when using the native firmware, so not sure if hardware failure explains it.

When I hold a "long play" with orig. firmware, the screen goes dark and it is functionally "off" (even though I guess it's in hibernate/standby mode really).
But when turning it back on it does a full reboot of the OS. My battery isn't strong enough for all the harddisk spin-ups that RB seems to require.
