Can't seem to turn off or shut down iPod 3rd Gen 20gb
teamost:
When I'm playing music on the above player with Rockbox, I can't ever turn it off. Manual says "long play" button should do it, but it doesn't. A quick press of that button will pause playback. But that's what a long press on the play button does too. And it never seems to just hibernate or fall asleep if I leave it in paused-play mode. So how do I just turn it off?? Thanks.
Chronon:
Maybe your player has some sort of hardware failure. I have heard of similar behavior on a 5.5g iPod:

It sounds like your iPod might be suffering from a similar problem.
Llorean:
If holding "long play" is only pausing your music, then something is going wrong. At the very least it should stop playback, not just pause it. It may be that you're moving your finger too much while trying to do it, and making it think you're scrolling briefly, interrupting or canceling the hold.

The player seems to function completely fine when using the native firmware, so not sure if hardware failure explains it.
When I hit the play button for any length, short or long, it pauses play and displays the main menu. I don't know if that menu display is normal function for Rockbox in this situation? But it won't turn off, nor will it sleep/hibernate if I just let it sit in pause mode either.

I don't think its physically possible to shut the 3G down in the OF, so how exactly did you verify that its working fine?
