iPod Video Not Mounting in iTunes
« on: October 07, 2011, 05:40:38 AM »
Hello, I am using iTunes 10.5 beta with my iPod Video 80GB. When I connect via USB it works in hard drive mode but iTunes does not recognize the unit. I've booted through the Apple firmware but still no luck. Any suggestions or is it a problem with the new iTunes version?

If you boot the Ipod with the Apple firmware no Rockbox code is running. If Itunes doesn't recognize it in that case you have a problem with the Ipod, and no problem Rockbox can do anything about.

AFAIk Itunes doesn't recognize an Ipod in Rockbox USB mode simply because the Apple firmware has some vendor specific extensions to the SCSI protocol that Rockbox doesn't support. It should still recognize it as removeable drive though.

Ok, it was working fine in iTunes before I loaded Rockbox though. Something changed and I don't know if it's the newer version of iTunes causing the problem or something else.

Well I got it to work. After restarting iTunes a few times and trying to mount it, it eventually did :)
