If you can get into recovery mode without having it randomly disconnect, it might be worthwhile to try formatting the device.  It's possible that the file system has become badly corrupted.

If that still doesn't work, shout. I have some code for extra stubborn e200s somewhere in case the instructions on SansaE200Unbrick don't work.
