Pictureflow
« on: September 29, 2011, 11:22:41 AM »
Hi,  is it yet possible to show Artists first in pictureflow.

i.e      AC/DC albums followed by Beatles followed by Coldplay etc. Rather than alphabetical albums.

I have read a few old topics on the subject and someone mentioned editing the pictureflow config file or something. To be honest this is way beyond my knowledge and as a 58 year old I am not all that computer literate. Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance, Brian

By the way sorry if this is in the wrong section.

I don't think that is possible at the moment. It would need some changes in the PictureFlow code, which in my opinion are not very hard but still, it's not the simplest of things.

What you propose has been discussed some times as you said; during the discussions, one of the problems people came into was, if I recall correctly, the fact that PictureFlow wouldn't know which image to choose in order to present the album. Again, I'm unsure, but I also think that the discussion died and until now no work has been done on implementing Albums view in PictureFlow.

You would need to "heat" the discussion again in order to eventually get some developer to look into it and do the necessary code work for Album display to become a reality in PictureFlow.

(I'm also unsure if this is on the right section, but a moderator can light us on that)

Thanks for your reply.

Its a pity that no one is working on this so that us users can have pictureflow by artist.

I personally think it is a good idea and would be better than scrolling along trying to find the album you want.
For instance I have 3 albums by one artist all over the place, 1 at the front ,1 at the back and 1 somewhere near the middle. It would be much better to have them all together.

If you just mean sorting the list by "albumartist-album" instead of just by album, then that shouldn't be too difficult, though I don't know if you can do it without modifying the code. It should be simpler than what gbl08ma describes, though: I believe he is thinking of how to list just one entry for each artist which, when selected lists the albums by that artist, no?

That's what I was thinking.
