Sansa Fuze V2 - Rockbox installing problems
snooze5:
Dear all,
as a newbie in this forum I hope, here's the right place to post my problem.
I got a Sansa Fuze V2 with the fimware version 02.03.33. I use Windows Vista (could also use XP SP3 or mac - but this would be the favourite).
I tried to install rockbox on the Fuze via Rockbox installation routine (bootloader etc.).
The first problem was, that Rockbox seemed not to accept the existing .bin file on the Fuze. I had to download a V1 firmware on my computer.
Then I got the Rockbox bootloader installed and also got Rockbox installed on the fuze. The .rockbox file is now there, but rockbox is not working on the player (I'm keen on gapless music).
I did the installation several times (also I put a V1 .bin file on the Fuze), but it's always the same: the Fuze says 'writing' when the rockbox version is put on the Fuze, but still it isn't working.
I would appreciate any help on this topic!
Thanks in advance
snooze5 / Christian

Its not possible to downgrade a V2 player to a V1 firmware as they have different processors that are incapable of running each other's firmware. You'll need to get out your player and verify which firmware is actually installed on it by checking the version in the Sandisk firmware. If you have a V2 firmware, you must only use V2 bin files and a V2 build of Rockbox. If V1, then only use V1 firmwares and rockbox builds. If you mix them up you'll probably find that the install fails because the processor will not understand the software you've loaded.

Dear All,
I got the problem solved (I hope so) - now the rockbox sign is shon on the player - for the first time!
Very helpful: the SansaAMS guide to installation (which is very useful!)
Post Merge: September 24, 2011, 03:59:38 PMSorry for posting so much, but:
I did the steps of the rockbox SansaAMS guide and put the patched bin on the MP 3 Fuze Player, then safely remove it.
Then its the only time, the rockbox sign is shown on the Fuze - then darkness.
If I put the Fuze on the Computer again (the Sansa updater has been removed from it) and install the most recent rockbox - utility on it.
It give me the original Sansa look and (unluckily) the original Sansa features e.g. no gapless hearing.
What can I do to get this rockbox-thing working on my Sansa Fuze?????????
Thanks in advance!!

Thanks for the remark. I did it now with the V2 OF and I get the same problem as magicalbum (http://forums.rockbox.org/index.php/topic,25503.msg170553.html#msg170553): I put it on the fuze on the manual tour, and put the patched version on the Fuze and then: the Rockbox boot screen is shown and then Fuze hangs. If I restart it: same thing, so I have to put the original .bin file (from Sandisk) on the Fuze in order to be able to hear music.
If anybody has a suggestion how to get the Rockbox properly worked on a Sansa Fuze V2 - pleas post / send an Email!!!!!!!
Thanks in Advance

Try using 3.9.1 instead of today's build. The recent font commit seems to break it on some players.
