Problems On Gigabeat S

<< < (4/4)

shoe:
I have the dual boot version working on my Gigabeat S (I never could get the single-boot version to work).  I can send it to you if you give me a link or email or something.

Word of warning, as mentioned earlier:  back up anything you have on there, twice out of the blue the player has gone back to the Toshiba restore mode and wiped all my music  (granted it was over more than 2 years of steady use).

--- End quote ---

This is the dualboot issue. Install the dualboot bootloader.

--- Quote ---2.- i tried several times and problem continued, even with rockbox utility
--- End quote ---

Rockbox Utility (currently) can't install the bootloader, so this doesn't make any difference. Right now you can only use it for installing the Rockbox build itself.

--- Quote ---3.- i downloaded the gbs_update_1_3_us.exe and the problem changed after installin rockbox, the bootloader showed Files not found, even with the utility
--- End quote ---

This is a different problem and has nothing to do with the bootloader. It's simply not finding the main Rockbox build, and someone else sending you a nk.bin is pointless. On which partition have you installed Rockbox? It must not be placed on the one holding the nk.bin file. Rockbox Utility can't distinguish between the two partitions and will install the build on the wrong one if you configured it to do so.

--- Quote ---4.- i downloaded gbs_update_1_2_us.exe and wsa the same
--- End quote ---

Of course, since your current problem is not related to the bootloader.

--- Quote ---but i noticed that the first time i instlled rockbox i only had the nk.bin on the tsfat but after i used gbs_update_1_2_us.exe and gbs_update_1_3_us.exe there were lot of more files...
--- End quote ---

Sounds like you installed Rockbox on the wrong partition. It's also possible that you're experiencing a different issue that is described in the wiki (http://www.rockbox.org/wiki/GigabeatSInstallation#A_34File_Not_Found_34) but from that description I don't think that's the case.

--- Quote ---so, can someone who has running the rockbox could send me the nk.bin???

--- End quote ---

Why are you insisting on some "solution" that will not solve your problem? Instead you should be much more careful with your problem description (it's quite different this time to the previous description!) and be much more careful in following what people suggest and what's written in the documentation.

well i only follow what is one the page....
and trying to put whatever it happends if someone makes the samething i do.... but if u dont want it its ok,...

I cant install the dualboot because in the manual it says that i require the firmware iso from a toshiba link that doesnt exist, searching the zip on forum and google i didnt found anything.

W/E just trying to help, maybe more people as me are just following the manual....

No, the manual says that you need the Toshiba firmware which you can find in that iso file. You can find it in other formats as well, and the file linked in the Flyspray entry I posted earlier does include that file. It's the file nk.bin the manual also refers to (and in fact instructs you to extract from the Toshiba firmware updater. Extracting it works pretty much the same way, you just don't need to do the additional iso unpacking. Besides, simply opening the exe with 7zip (as the manual also tells) will show you).

Please do read the manual carefully, the Gigabeat S is classified as unstable target for a reason. Plus, we can't do much if Toshiba decides to (re)move downloads.
