i-pod classic.
ChrisHaigh:
Hello everyone.
I have noticed the other topics revolving around the I-pod classic, however I thought my question belonged it it's own thread. I anyone disagrees I will gladly move it at their request.
My question, or request is an explanation of rockbox on I'-pod classics, to be more specific which models it will work or work best on.
This directly and solely affects which model I buy and wheather I get an i-pod at all over a clip+
Thanks,
Chris.
EDIT: I think my post does violate the placement rules set in the sticky, however I cannot find a propper place for it. Sorry.

Assuminig by classic you mean the 6G ipods, all of them work, but we classify them as "unusable" (see our front page) since the port is still fairly new and not everything is working.
ChrisHaigh:
Yes, I do.
Is "Unusable" really unusable?

Not in this case, no.
It could /possibly/ be promoted to "Unstable"...
There's still some quite large issues, though. There's no specific Rockbox bootloader, installation requires the use of emCORE from the Freemyipod project. Battery life is greatly reduced compared to the Apple firmware, and there is no dualboot, so you will lose the abilty to use iTunes and the Apple firmware. It might also pay to note that installation *will* wipe the disk, so backups are essential to prevent data loss if there's anything on there you care about.

ChrisHaigh:
Thanks I don't have one a present.
I hate the apple firmware and i-tunes. I am only interested in buying oneif RockBox is usable on it.
How bad is battery life? could you get say 20 hours out of it?
