e200 doesn't connect to pc

i have a sansa e270v1. works fine but does not connect to pc (i tried 3 different pcs, with win7, ubuntu and win xp) it only connects in manufacturing mode.
what i tried so far:  bought a new cable.
used e200tool to format (sansa.fmt) and reinstall bootloader and firmware. even the i2c rom (i don't know why i thought this might help. it didn't).
i disconnected the daughter card and reassembled it.
any other ideas?

Which version of rockbox?  And what happens when you try to connect with Rockbox?

Not using our tools, so you'll need to figure out how to fix the Sandisk software first.

my version of the e200tool can write directly to the hidden partition. is there an image of the hidden partition with rockbox that i can use?

I don't think e200tool can do that unless you've added support for it yourself?

Ah I had forgotten that existed.  You're welcome to try it, but you're probably on your own if those instructions don't work.
