Sansa e260v2. Not rebooting into Rockbox after installation

(1/3) > >>

mmartin622:
I've spent HOURS trying to install and use this utility.  I received the message that Installation was Complete.  When I go to Windows Explorer and explore my Sansa e260v2 I can see the rockbox folder along with the Audible, Music, Photo, Record and Videa folders.  I can even find the english.voice file I put into the langs folder.
But..my Sansa does not boot up into Rockbox.  It is still Sansa.  What could be the problem?  What am I not doing?  Thankyou for any and all help.

Did you install the bootloader?  If so, when you're done do you see the (now patched) firmware file you gave the installer copied to the root of your player?

mmartin622:
How do I give that firmware file to the installer? Where do I find it. What does it look like?  Do I need to uninstall what I've just put on my player?

You should take a look at the manual, but basically run the installer, make sure its set to e200v2 and then hit install.  The installer will direct you to do the rest.

I am trying to follow each direction carefully from the manual.  On the Installation page, paragraph 2.2.3.  Number 3...I do not understand this sentence. "Run mkamsboot.exe, passing the name of the OF and bootloader files that you downloaded, in addition to a name for the output file. "  When I hit Run for mkamsboot.exe it does nothing.  I get a FLASH of some kind of window but it disappears.  Should I uninstall what I already hve on my player first?
Sentence number 4 is also confusing.  This is NOT easy.
