Tag Database creation doesn't work

(1/1)

M.D.:
So I just got a new, larger microSD card for my sansa Clip+ player, and after copying all the data from the old card to the new one, I started my player as usual. I went to the settings menu and chose to build the database anew, so that's what Rockbox must have done. After awhile, it seemed like it was finished, so I turned off the player. When I switched it back on, it tells me that it's currently creating a Tag Database [1/9]. However, the player doesn't seem to do anything about the Tag Database, that [1/9] stays [1/9] all the time, and after 5 minutes of inactivity (which I set in the settings), the player turns itself off.

So it looks to me like something is wrong with the database. I used chkdsk on both the player and the microSD card, and there were no errors or corrupt files or anything. I'm using Rockbox 3.9 on a SanDisk sansa Clip+ player with a 32GB microSD card.

Maybe either deleting the database files (which would those be?) or reinstalling Rockbox on my player would solve the issue. But before reinstalling, I'd like to save my settings, fonts, plugins and theme files, took me a good while to configure those things the way I like them to be. How can I backup those things before attempting a reinstall?

Don't bother reinstalling.

Reinitialize the database from the settings menu.  If that doesn't work, try enabling database logging from the debug menu.  That should generate a log in the root of your player that will hopefully end with whatever file crashed the player.  Remove it from the device and see if that fixes it.  If it does, file a bug report with a link to the file so that it gets fixed.
