ATA error (+ frozen bootscreen)
(1/1)
Brett:
Hi there !
Not really sure if this is the right subforum (according to the information in the sticky), but couldn't find a more appropriate place to post this.
I've been getting an ATA error, and I believe it says "-6". It's on a two-week-old Clip+ 4GB which I equipped with a 16GB Sandisk Class 4 card. It doesn't happen every time I turn it on, I think I've seen the error about 3 times in one week (I use it every day), but today it froze on the bootscreen (logo screen with Rockbox version number). About 15 minutes later it booted normally at a press on the power button, but the fact that it froze tells me I should do something, and the previous ATA errors are my only lead to go by.
I did a search but couldn't find any info about this specific error.
Does someone know what it means, and/or what I should do?
Some info that may be helpful:
Clip+ 4GB + 16GB Sandisk class 4 SDHC card (All the music is on the memory card)
Bootloader 3.0
Rockbox 3.9
ps. I've been using Rockbox on my (previous) Clip+ for about a year and really love it! Much thanks and appreciation to all the devs for this wonderful piece of software!
saratoga:
You've got an old bootloader that has trouble with some NAND chips on there somehow. Install the bootloader again from rockbox utility and it should update you to the current one.
Brett:
Thanks a lot, the utility updated the bootloader to v4.0 and I haven't seen a freeze since.
Thanks for your help!
