On Clip+ Can't uninstall, can't use!
« on: September 06, 2011, 01:30:59 PM »
Hi, So installed Rockbox on my Sansa Clip+ and everything was working fine untill i insert my microSD card.

After I plugged the clip to my computer the OF usb screen became misaligned.

Unplugged/plugged the clip. Now it looks like rockbox firmware but all the screen is scrambled and pixelated. i does that plugged or unplugged.

I uninstalled Rockbox, still the scrambled screen.

Re-installed  rockbox, no changes on the scrambled screen.

Tried to volume down + power reset, no changes.

Tried eject/insert the MicroSD card, no changes.

Help  please!

take a photo of the screen, certainly sounds like you've knocked the screen loose

Using PMs to annoy devs about bugs/patches is not a good way to have the issue looked at.

I have the same issue  >:(
I just was going through menus and some weird icons started to show up. With every next push of button screen was becoming more messed and ended being black. I was still able to listen to music but without screen.
When i installed original firmware all i can see is pixelated something. Please provide some instructions to repair this, because i have my player only 2 days!  :'(

Did you end up being able to fix this?

My player has recently suffered the same fate and I've tried a few different options to no avail.

I was "lucky", that it happened to me 1 day after buying. I just switched player in shop for working one. Sadly i couldn't find possible cause or fix.
It looks like it is just hardware error, not Rockbox related, but.. maybe Rockbox took part in making it? I dont know...

Hmmm, well I tried all the various options I saw: holding every conceivable button combination, reinstalling the newest firmware, reinstalling an older firmware, formatting the player (from within my OS and the player), yelling and swearing at it, charging to full and letting it drain completely and a few other methods.

Ultimately none of the above proved a long term solution as the screen became scrambled and pixelated within a minute or two. Finally I stumbled across another forum which suggested opening up the player then putting it back together, so left with no other option I tried. Surprisingly enough it actually worked, the screen went back to normal and everything worked fine... until I turned it off. Since then it hasn't turned back on no matter what method I try. My OS doesn't recognise when it's plugged in either.

I've tried taking it apart again and inspecting any loose connection, but I can't notice anything out of place

Unfortunately mine was purchased 2nd hand, so looks as if I'm out of options unless someone has a random suggestion that may provide life again.
