Ipod classic file transfers slow?

Hello, I'm trying to get rockbox to work on my Ipod classic 120GB. I applied the usbfix from the bottom of the page here:http://forums.rockbox.org/index.php?topic=28562.0.
Before, my ipod would rarely connect to the computer, but now it slows to a crawl part way through file transfers. I'm not really sure what to do about it?

Edit:
It works fine if I reinstall the firmware, but only for about 2GB of files. After that, it starts to transfer really slowly again. I've also noticed that the motor sounds like it shuts off and starts up again every few seconds, which it doesn't do when the files are transferring correctly. What could be causing this?
