Sansa e250 Stuck "Scanning Disc" On Power Up

I had the Sansa hooked up to the pc and after removing I got a file/playlist error and on restarting it's stuck forever on scanning disk.  I removed the battery for a while but no good. Any thoughts?

Reboot into the original firmware and check the disk for errors.

That or just format it.

Every time I try to scan it, it changes to "disconnected"

Yes, yes you most certainly will.

With any luck you won't be relying on your DAP as the sole place this data resides and you'll have it backed up to another location. If not, then we just learnt a valuable lesson about backups
