How to let database only scan only certain directories?

(1/2) > >>

yzflcyq:
I put many things in my DAP. Many software have their sounds and rockbox always adds these things into my database so that I can sometimes hear something strange when I use database to generate my playlist.
I often put my musics in /MUSIC, /Podcasts and /Songs. I wonder how to let database only scan them when it updates automatically. I tried putting a database.ignore in the root directory of my DAP and put database.unignore in those three folder but it doesn't work.
Is there any way (maybe except putting database.ignore file in all the folder besides those three, there're too many :( ) to solve this problem?

Thanks in advance.

saratoga:
The database.ignore method does what you want. What happened when you tried?

Put a "database.ignore" in the root of the filesystem, and put a "database.unignore" in the topmost level of the directories you *do* want scanned.

[Saint], the OP already did that as far as I can understand. Either s/he is not doing it properly, or it's some strange bug.

soap:
If you are using Windows and have "Hide file extensions of known types" turned on perhaps said files are named database.unignore.txt?
