Obnoxious Sansa problem

(1/1)

powerleg:
so this weekend I bought a new sansaclip+, I don't know why, this is my third one and I haven't seen great performance from the other two. This third one has been even worse though, it worked fine yesterday, and today I plugged the thing in, deleted an album, unplugged it, and then my hell started. The sansaclip just got stuck on "refreshing your media" and refused to start. I googled some stuff and heard it might be a tag problem, so I just deleted all the files off of it, but still when I go to restart it, it just gets stuck on refreshing media. Hooray.

So I read some posts of people saying rockbox worked for them, might as well give it a try I thought. I got it all installed using the installer, unplugged the thing, the rockbox logo came up with a box saying "scanning media", then the screen went black except for a little yellow asterisk (*) in the top left corner of the screen. If I press any button it just shows the rockbox logo again, version 3.9, "scanning media" for a few seconds and then it's back to the little yellow *. I tried to fiddle with it, uninstall rockbox, reinstall, power off, power on, but there's no change. What's going on with this thing? Can anyone tell me how to solve this issue? Or is my new mp3 player just garbage right out of the box?

You can dual boot into the Sandisk software by inserting the USB plug when the player is off.  From there, try reformatting the device.  If that doesn't fix the problem with the original firmware, then its probably broken.
