Unreasonable delay when skipping tracks

That's a good idea. If I suspected an album art problem, I would first try that, even though I could easily recompile. When dircache is enabled, unsuccessful attempts to locate album art should take virtually no time.

In the past, right after album art resizing was added, I've had large delays on my 5G iPod when starting albums with very large album art images. I didn't think of it as a Rockbox problem; I just felt I was trying to use unreasonably large album art, and I resized it.

I have a few Vorbis tracks with embedded album art. On my iPod Video, it typically takes a good 5 to 8 seconds to start playback. On my Sansa c250, playback starts almost immediately (<1 second).

Just my two cents.

I am still having this problem. It hasn't magically gone away since I raised the issue. It is almost useless as a "shuffle" type player now which is how I tend to use it. I would return to the OF but my ears are very sensitive to certain things and it is uncomfortable for me to listen to headphones without crossfeed much of the time.

I'm still willing to help if you answer my question :)

Roseweave:
I don't even understand how I'm meant to use those test files. The issue is when skipping in the database too - if they have no database entries, I can't recreate the issue either way.
