Default Settings

Thanks, actually I found that going to "Settings/Manage Settings/Reset Settings" works as well...

Well..yes, it does. But that's a bit brutal.
Its perfectly fine if you don't mind going through all the settings and re-applying your personal preferences...Its a little like cutting off your foot to fix a stubbed toe. ;D
Glad you figured it out, though.

Hint: What I do personally is save a config file once I have my devices set up just the way I like them, so that if the girlfriend changes something (we seem to have *very* different listening preferences (she prefers a lot of treble and mids whereas I like a "flat" sound)) I can easily revert back to my preferences exactly the way I like them.

Hint 2: Once you have your desired configuration, you can make sure it is *always* applied at boot time no matter what config options you change during runtime by making a copy of your preferred settings config.cfg and naming it "fixed.cfg", then placing this inside the .rockbox folder.

This config file will *always* be applied at boot time, no matter what settings were changed during the previous runtime. I find this is good for things like setting a sane volume level so you don't accidentally blast yourself at full volume when changing from amplified line-out to headphones, etc. or perfect for my situation where I have a specific set of preferences I like which might get changed by a third party without my knowledge.
I can always guarantee that my preferred set-up will be applied whenever I boot the player.

I'm not sure if it's the behavior for all targets, but on my Gigabeat I just hold down "Long Select" when presented with a menu choice and it selects the default setting.  I've found that to be pretty convenient when I want to set some things to default but leave personal settings alone.

I like the configuration too, but the only settings my friends/family really change on my player is the channel configuration since I have to keep it on Mono ( deaf in my left ear ).

I do like to set the volume in fixed.cfg though, because if one of them left it up in the +dB range ( as they usually do ) it feels like my ear drum is about to split before I can turn it back down.
