sansa e200 wont play songs

Hi-- I've been using RB since 2008 with relatively few problems.

On 2 previous occasions, Rockbox would load but not play music-- all i would hear is a buzzing sound. The status bar would move, showing that playback had started but nothing but a buzz would come through the headphones. This problem could always be resolved by removing Rockbox using the utility and reloading it.

Recently, the same thing occurred (my MP3 player stopped working after a rain storm and it got wet). Now, the player works fine with the original firmware but will not play using Rockbox. As before, Rockbox shows the status bar moving etc, but all I get is noise. However, I've done 2 re-installs and still no music! Yes, the original firmware works.

I am perplexed and would appreciate any help!

Check the disk for errors.

Depends on if you're got windows/mac/linux.  Check the documentation for your OS or google for how to run its disk check tool.

OK I thought maybe there was a special setting on Rockbox...

I ran disktidy, check disk and I also defragged the disks. Although there was less "buzzing" after these tasks, there still is no music.

Other suggestions?

Nope.. the fragmented rate was high (15%) but other than that everything was fine. The checkdisk took 30 minutes or so, FWIW... seems excessive for 16gb of flash (8 on sansa plus 8 on sdhc).

This time it found errors. But, after that the same result-- no music.
