Rockbox and gapless wma playback.
« on: August 13, 2011, 12:23:47 AM »
I have read older posts about rockbox's inability to play wma without gaps, I would like to know if that would ever be fixed.  I have wma files that play without gaps in windows media player and winamp and I was wondering if anyone figured out how to convert wma to ogg without gaps.  I tried foobar 2000 and dbpoweramp and I heard a gap after i played the files in rockbox, but the cd's i ripped directly to ogg play without gaps. I guess I have to burn the wma's back on cd's and re-ripping them to ogg.

No idea on the gapless playback issue, but the quality of the files will be adversely affected if you go from WMA to vorbis so maybe just re-rip from the original media instead?

You know what's weird though, i listened to an album that I downloaded from amazon mp3 on my rockbox'ed clip+, and I didn't hear a gap or even a clipping sound, but yet it played with a gap in wmp or winamp, and it's the opposite with wma.

Until someone actually figures out exactly where in the metadata the gapless info is stored, and what format it takes, there's nothing that can be done.
