I have accepted the little help that has been given.

Really?

Did I miss the part where you sent me the file? Because I'm willing to just look at the file and tell you whats wrong with it. All you have to do is let me help you :)

No, it seems pointless to ask whats wrong with a file, and then refuse to let anyone look at the file. Seriously, until you post a link theres little chance anyone can tell you whats wrong unless its something really simple (e.g. you put the wrong tags on the files). Realistically, if you wanted help, you probably should have posted the file when you started the thread :)

Just checking if the Ogg file has an ID3(v2) tag or not is easy. If the file starts with an ID3 tag, the first three bytes are "ID3". Proper Ogg files begin with "OggS".
If this isn't the problem though, then it starts to get hard to explain what to look for - at least concisely - and providing (a part of) a file for someone else to look at makes sense.
evilnick:
I just searched this forum for "ogg id3" and got this as a result: http://forums.rockbox.org/index.php/topic,10764.0.html which recommends Mp3tag as a program to remove id3 tags.
OxonOwl:
Pretty sure it didn't start with ID3
However, I removed all tags and the files play.
This evening I will re-tag and see if the problem recurs
Thanks for all your help
Lear:
In that case, I suspect the tags contained big album art images (at least a few hundred kilobytes).
